Once again, the Hastings-on-Hudson Fire Department participated in the annual Memorial Day remembrances on Sunday, May 28. The day began with a church service at 9 a.m. at the First Reformed Church, followed by the annual memorial service at the monument located in front of the Hook & Ladder Co. No. 1. This service remembers the five members of the department who have made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

Following the service, a department-wide breakfast was hosted at Uniontown Hose Co. No. 2. After breakfast, Chief of Department Martin Gunther welcomed Major Gen. John K. Love of the 2nd Marine Division, who was the guest of honor for the Memorial Day Parade. A contingent of Marines and sailors in for Fleet Week were also welcomed at the Hook & Ladder Co. No. 1.

At 2 p.m., the department marched in the annual Memorial Day Parade, which was followed by the annual department picnic at MacEachron Waterfront Park. Our thanks to those servicemembers who participated in the parade and we look forward to seeing you next year!
