On Sunday December 5th, 2021 eight members of the Hastings-on-Hudson Fire department completed their initial bailout certification. To become an interior firefighter members must complete Firefighter 1 at the training Center and Bailout certification. The members will now have descenders that will allow them to escape an burning building from a upper floor by bailing out of a window. This will be a last resort but if they have no other choice they have the equipment and training needed to save them selves.
