A very interesting article from the Warburton Avenue Magazine describing a major structure fire at 423 Warburton Ave that occurred in January 1942. The article has a first hand account from a young girl Rose Battististi Bassman when her and her family was rescued from a fourth floor window. Rose Bassman became the Hastings Middle and High School nurse. Her husband was and son is still a member of the Hastings-on-Hudson (all volunteer) Fire Department.

Great article, over the years I have heard many stories in regards to this devastating fire and the destruction of 423 Warburton, another great job by the Hastings-on-Hudson Fire Department !!!!!
