The Hastings-on-Hudson Fire Department participated in the October Friday Night Live. The Hastings FD put on demonstrations and conducted fire safety instruction. The demonstrations highlighted the use of extrication tools to cut victims from their cars and the EMT's from the Ambulance showed how they immobilize victims and remove them. A low angle rope rescue techniques used to rescue victims from gorges or from the bottom of steep slopes. The fire safety trailer was a big hit with the kids. This trailer prop uses water based fake smoke to show how smoke fills a structure. This reinforces why you should remain low in a fire while evacuating. We remind everyone to have smoke detectors and CO detectors their residences.
